What is Insomnia?
An inability to fall asleep (or go back to sleep) - most often insomnia caused by a build up of stress and anxiety which keeps the mind spooling and mulling over events of the day, week, past years and days, weeks and often years to come. The mind remains active and seemingly unable to still itself enough to drop down from this heightened Beta State to the Alpha brainwave state, dream state and so to sleep.
What are common symptoms of insomnia or sleep disorders?
The mind keeps racing and creating more worry and concern about the very fact that one is still awake and seemingly unable to fall asleep. This leaves a person tired, irritable and unable to think clearly or concentrate during the day. Sometimes the heart can be beating faster as well.

Is it possible to treat insomnia using a natural treatment?

Why do I wake up several times through the night?
The usual sleep cycle is 2 to 2 1/2 hours of deep sleep and then 20 to 30 minutes in the dream state, with this cycle being repeated. Often we don´t remember our dreams, however they can disturb us. One of the main things that can cause us to wake up is when we recognise or when we think that “Oh no, I´m awake” - this is when you focus on it and become fully awake. So it is important the way we speak to ourselves, because we´re still really in the Alpha brainwave state - which is the relaxed state. What is preferable it to say to ourselves something along the lines of: “Now I´m going to just drift back down into a sound, peaceful, deep, relaxing sleep.
